Alex Belhaj became interested in sound engineering in order master recording his own music, and in 2007 he received a Certificate in Music Engineering and Production from Washtenaw Community College.
ALex works for the University of Michigan as a audio-video technician. He has also been deeply engaged, over the past 7 years, at the student/community-run radio station, WCBN. Alex becameProduction Director of WCBN in 2007.
Mixed Company Troupe is thrilled to have Alex's skill set focused upon our high-tech theatrical productions. Both his attention to technical detail and his ability to punt in tough situations, make Alex a treasured member of our staff.
And did we mention his musicianship? Alex arranges music for our performances and plays guitar in several of our shows. A Django Reinhardt for ther 21st Century... wait 'til you hear Alex play!
When not working behind the scenes to create a superb soundscape for Mixed Company Troupe, Alex performs with various groups in and around Ann Arbor, playing guitar or piano with both the Joe Summers Gypsy Jazz Trio and with Brad Battey & the Picks & Sticks Stringband. Ever the versatile as musician, Alex is also passionate in his approaches to classic jazz and American traditional music.
