The Puppet Meet-up Series

1. Our director (Sasha d'Or) matches up two volunteers (strangers to one another) who meet online to discuss a meaty topic. The director listens in and records their 30 to 40 minute discussion. No video, just talk.

3. Performances are rehearsed, using the original voice recordings (step 2), but portrayed by 14 distinct puppets. The puppeteers are not the people who spoke, but they capture each speaker's character and emphasis. Once ready, these performances are filmed.

Each conversationalist selects which puppet she/he wishes to have matched with their voice.

2. Sasha collects seven such recordings and edits these 4 hours or so of talk down into gems of intriguing thoughts. A 30-minute audio recording is produced that rotates between the seven conversations.

Volunteers react to this edit, accepting or rejecting their part in the emerging intellectual parade of thoughts.

After some video editing, the resulting show is published on this site.

Note that this project is under development and no videos exist yet.

The premise here, is that how we listen to new ideas is shaped, in part, by the physical appearance of the speaker. What happens when that goes away and we listen to hand puppets?
